In Kate Hamill’s toothsome update “Dracula: A Feminist Revenge Fantasy, Really”, the tables are delightfully turned.

With Dracula: A Feminist Revenge Fantasy, Really, playing through November 3 at Norfolk’s The Well Theatre, Hamill makes no secret of her purpose. Indeed, in a world in which it takes scores of women to bring down one powerful sexual predator, coyness would not serve the purpose.

Kate Hamill’s adaptation of “Dracula” reimagines Bram Stoker’s classic tale with her signature wit and fresh perspective. In this version, she explores themes of desire, power, and the supernatural while giving voice to the female characters often sidelined in traditional interpretations. The story retains its gothic essence but is infused with humor and a contemporary sensibility, making it both thrilling and relatable.

We hopped on a Zoom with cast members Anna Sosa and Dan Cimo to dish about how the women take center stage in this production and really stick it to the man–and just how funny that can be.
