This past March included our 2nd Annual New York Theatre Trip for donors who give at the Patron Level and above. You, too, can join us on our adventures in New York City! Become a member of the VSC donor family at the Patron Level or above for a special invitation.
On Thursday, our group met at the Theatre Communications Group Offices for a Costume Conversation with Broadway designer David Woolard.
That evening we traveled the Shubert Theatre for To Kill a Mockingbird (with 2019 Tony Award Winner Celia Keenan-Bolger and Jeff Daniels).
Friday was our exclusive Casting Experience with Chad Murnane of Binder Casting and director Nicolas Minas at Ripley-Grier Studios. Nick will helm our season-opening production of Guys & Dolls in fall 2019.
Tom, Chad, and Nick talked through the process of casting before actors “auditioned” for Guys and Dolls. The group was able to experience what it’s really like in the audition room and be a part of the discussion afterward. It was really exciting to hear all the different "final cast" ideas from everyone.
Following that was a fantastic lunch at Tavern on the Green off Central Park.
That evening, brought everyone to the Cort Theatre for King Lear.
Saturday afternoon was The Band’s Visit at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. A few people from the group waiting at the stage door and were able to get photos with some cast members.
Sunday morning, the group reconvened Intercontinental Hotel restaurant for brunch, sharing stories from the trip and all the shows.
